Jorge Ochoa holds a PhD in Sustainable Construction from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Bond University before joining the University of South Australia in 2015. His work focuses on the development of systems and decision support tools for the sustainable transformation of built environments. Dr Ochoa provides innovative solutions by applying digital technologies, big data analytics, visualisations and artificial intelligence to address challenges in the built environment. He works together with the industry and end-users to produce research with an impact that goes beyond the confines of academia. As such, Dr Ochoa’s work has been widely accepted and adopted by several important organisations including the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the European Commission DG Environment, the United Nations World Water Assessment Programme and the New York City Panel on Climate Change. Furthermore, he has a number of external appointments in the capacity of Visiting Professor and has been invited to deliver keynote talks at industry and academic forums, such as Rio+20 and the World Urban Forum 9.
